Celebrities like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, or Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire were childhood pals way before becoming major stars.

Affleck and Damon both grew up in Massachusetts and proceeded to climb the entertainment ladder side by side throughout their decades-long friendship. In March 2020, the Argo star joked that his success as a child star inspired Damon to act as well.

Jonah Hill and Adam Levine, on the other hand, have their parents to thank for their close bond. “Our dads met in the principal’s office in junior high,” the 22 Jump Street actor told Howard Stern in 2014. The Los Angeles natives remained close throughout their careers, with Hill serving as the officiant at Levine’s July 2014 nuptials to Behati Prinsloo.

Hill’s sister, Beanie Feldstein, is also a master of turning school friends into lifelong companions. After meeting Ben Platt in middle school at a bat mitzvah when they were 14, the Lady Bird actress and the Dear Evan Hansen star’s careers skyrocketed almost in tandem.

Sara Foster and Kate Hudson

Foster reminisced on her and Hudson’s 30-year friendship, which began in the 9th grade. Foster previously noted that she and Hudson had “been friends since high school” in a February 2025 interview with E! News.

“How the hell am I supposed to go through 30 years of pictures and videos to do a bday post that fully encompasses this woman,” Foster wrote via her Instagram Story in April 2025 to celebrate Hudson’s 46th birthday. “Luckily my computer was stolen in Vegas years ago and none of my photos were backed up.”

Foster still managed to share several photos of Foster and Hudson together, including one of them on horseback in Aspen. “Aspen usually has been a thorn in our relationship since that’s where she got married at 21 years old and didn’t invite me,” Foster wrote. “I’m still not over it.”

“Happy bday to the girl who I met in 9th grade who literally took me under her wing, snuck me off campus when I wasn’t allowed, brought me into her family, exposed me to such incredible things I never would have been exposed to, included me in her biggest moments (except her wedding), showed up and supported mine, and too much more to write,” she wrote. “I love you.”

Foster gushed over her friendship with Hudson in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in 2018. “The beauty of being friends with Kate and Nicole [Richie] is that we’ve all been friends since we were little,” she explained. “We’ve been friends with Nicole since we were in elementary school and friends with Kate since high school.”

She added, “Who knows if we met today if we’d be friends, but those are friendships that have to last because they’ve already lasted so long and we all grew up together.”

"I'm such a goody-goody and I love school, so he was like, 'I must mean a lot to you.'" The pair have remained close, dressing up in matching Halloween costumes, traveling the globe together and sharing heartfelt Instagram posts for each other’s birthdays.

Hudgens then stood up for Tisdale as a bridesmaid when she married Christopher French the following year.
